Dear Families,
We have been very hard at work. Last week we talked about our bodies. We learned that our brain as three parts: the cerebellum, cerebrum, and the brain stem. The cerebrum helps us do all of our learning, and our cerebellum helps us to balance. We also learned about our muscles and bones. Did you know that our muscles are so strong that if our brain didn't tell them to stop, they could break our bones? Lastly, we learned about our digestive and respiratory systems. It was so much fun. We also learned 4 more letters: F, N, B, and O.
This week we are learning about the artist Henri Matisse. He was a French artist that sculpted and painted. However, as he got older his senses were not as good, and it was hard for his bones to hold the paint brush. He was also unable to sculp anymore. So, he used a different part of his body to create: his hands and eyes. He began cutting shapes out of paper with scissors and arranging them on paper before gluing them down. He used so many bright colors. Yesterday, we got to make our own Henri Matisse art pieces.
Love,
Ms. Allen's Kindergarten
